
Renee Duxler, L.M.S.W.
Renee Duxler is a licensed masters level social worker.
She obtained her masters in social work from Newman
University in 2004, specializing in Family-Centered
Practice. Renee has an undergraduate degree in social work
from Kansas State University, where she graduated in 2002.
Renee is currently working on her clinical specialist
licensure, as well as play therapy certification.
Renee has extensive experience in providing mental health
services and support to children, individuals and families.
Renee has worked for both a hospice agency and an HIV
clinic, and recently spent the last few years as a social
worker providing behavioral intervention and support to
children with special needs. Renee also has a
background in working with victims of sexual assault and
domestic violence. With all of this, she has
experience in providing services to individuals with
depression, interpersonal challenges, anxiety, self-esteem
issues, trauma, grief and loss, and self-harming behaviors.
She also is experienced in helping families with
parenting skills, managing stress, behavior challenges and
adjustment issues. Renee can also work with couples
to develop better conflict resolution and communication
skills with each other.
Renee is familiar with a number of different therapeutic
approaches, and works with each individual and family to
choose the approach that is best for them. These
include solutions-focused short therapy,
cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, and
strengths-based therapy, to name a few. Renee is very
comfortable and experienced in working with individuals and
families from all walks of life and backgrounds.
As well as providing therapy, Renee is also employed at WSU
as an adjunct faculty instructor for both the Women's
Studies and Social Work departments, where she teaches on
issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, and generalist
practice for social work. She is currently a
certified facilitator for Itsy Bitsy Yoga, where she works
with parents and their babies and toddlers to find fun ways
to move and engage with each other, while also building
healthy body esteem and developing stress relief habits.
Renee is the mother of three small children of her own, and
lives with her family in Northeast Wichita.
Renee is a member of the Kansas Association for Infant and
Toddler Mental Health, and the Association for Play
Therapy.
